Attendance

You will be billed for assessment and/or therapy sessions that comprise of both direct clinical tasks and non-direct tasks which are necessary for the session and to provide your child with effective support.

Please note, 60 minute therapy sessions comprise of 45 minutes of direct therapy and 15 minutes of necessary non-client facing time (e.g. recording progress notes in client files).

As part of delivering best-practice therapy supports, More to Say Speech Pathology may provide services outside of direct therapy sessions.

These non-face-to-face services are billed at the same hourly rate as face-to-face sessions, under the relevant NDIS support item code. Charges for non-face-to-face services will be discussed and agreed upon with the participant (or their nominee) prior to billing.

These will only ever occur with permission from the parent/carer. These may include:

  • Parent only appointments: To discuss goals, provide education about current therapy approaches, discuss current or future school/preschool/childcare settings.
  • Resource development: Sometimes children benefit from resources including visuals, choice boards, Social Stories, speech sound therapy home practice cards etc.
  • Meetings with other professionals: To collaborate on current strategies, goals and to share recommendations. Sometimes medical professionals contact therapists to ask for developmental observations.
  • Meetings with schools: Sometimes therapists or schools may request meetings to share goals, recommendations, observations, educational plans and to plan for school entry or transition between years.
  • Analysis and interpretation of assessment data: This most often takes longer than the general 15 minute allowance for progress notes.
  • Report writing: NDIS review reports, assessment reports for paediatricians, transition to school reports.

Cancellations

  • Cancellations less than 48 hours before the time of your appointment incur a 100% cancellation fee.
  • Failure to attend an appointment without providing prior notice incurs a 100% cancellation fee.
  • You will also incur the travel fee if no prior notice was provided (i.e. if therapist travelled to the appointment).
  • If the participant has not arrived to a home/educational/community setting by the time the appointment has started, this will result in a shorter session length as appointment start times cannot be delayed. If they have not arrived after 15 minutes time, this may result in a failure to attend 100% cancellation policy.

In the event where you need to cancel an appointment, we will spend the time completing non-face to face tasks such as:

  • Resource development (creating visuals, Social Stories etc.)
  • Phone call/Online meeting with parent/carer if they are able
  • Emailing other key people involved (e.g. other therapists, preschool staff, school teachers, paediatrician’s etc.) to update them on progress, strategies or to discuss any relevant matters.
  • Completing NDIS reports if that is something that is currently required.
  • Planning for sessions.
  • Any other tasks that are agreed upon between parent/carer and Speech Pathologist
